Each year, USA Field Hockey hires more than 500 dedicated, qualified coaches to help run programming including Nexus, AAU Junior Olympic Games, Junior High Performance and more. To be eligible to apply, a minimum of a Level 1 Certification and current USA Field Hockey Coach Membership is required for all positions, and some positions required a Level 2 Certification plus recent coaching experience.

Description: Looking for a dynamic coach with a strong understanding of field hockey fundamentals, strategy, and team-building. The ideal candidate will foster a positive team culture, promote sportsmanship, and support the academic and personal growth of our student-athletes. Coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute practice sessions and game strategies.
- Mentor and develop student-athletes in skill development and teamwork.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff.
- Comply with all school, league, and state athletic policies.

Overview: Mount Saint Mary is seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated individual to join our athletic department as the Head Varsity Field Hockey Coach. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in field hockey, excellent leadership and communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive, competitive environment for our student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all aspects of the Varsity Field Hockey program, including practice planning, team strategy, game preparation, and in-game coaching.
- Develop and implement a season plan, including training, skills development, and fitness programs that promote individual and team growth.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to athletes emphasizing the importance of academics, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages hard work, dedication, and mutual respect among players.
- Work collaboratively with the athletic director, assistant coaches, and other school staff to ensure the success of the field hockey program.
- Attend all scheduled games, tournaments, and team events.
- Maintain communication with parents regarding team activities, schedules, and player progress.
- Ensure adherence to all league, district, and state regulations and safety protocols.
- Manage team rosters, equipment, and uniforms.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or collegiate level.
- A strong knowledge of field hockey rules, strategies, and training techniques.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes, creating a positive and competitive team environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- A commitment to fostering a safe and respectful athletic environment for all students.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience playing competitive field hockey.
- Experience managing a team of assistant coaches.
- Knowledge of high school athletic programs and compliance with state and league regulations.
Compensation: Competitive stipend based on experience and qualifications.

Position: Assistant Field Hockey Coach
Location: New Canaan, Connecticut
Start Date: August 2025 (Fall Season)
Description:
New Canaan High School is looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable coach to join our field hockey staff. The ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of field hockey fundamentals, strategy, and player development. We seek individuals who can foster a positive team culture, promote sportsmanship, and support the growth of our student-athletes both on and off the field.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead engaging drills during practice, focused on skill development and game strategy.
- Mentor and support student-athletes in their technical and tactical growth daily at practice and in games.
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and a positive learning environment.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school staff.
- Uphold all school, league, and state athletic policies.
Schedule:
- Season: Mid-August to Mid-November
- Practices: Monday–Friday, 3:00–5:00 PM
- Games: Typically on weekdays at 4:00 PM or later, with occasional weekend games
Qualifications:
- Prior playing or coaching experience is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Full commitment to all games and practices during the Fall season

Position: Head Field Hockey Coach
Location: Bel Air, Maryland
Start Date: August 2025 (Fall Season)
Description:
- Supervise all aspects of the program including the JV team.
- Complete pre-season planning well in advance of the starting date and communicate with assistant coaches and JV coach their responsibilities.
- Build a relationship with each student-athlete on the team, regardless of role.
- Motivate students to improve individually and contribute to team improvement.
- Run well-organized practices using sound teaching progressions.
- Communicate with parents and the community to promote this sport and The John Carroll School.
- Monitor student-athletes’ academic performance using Veracross.
- Promote safety within all aspects of the program.
- Follow all IAAM rules and regulations.
- Work with the Admissions Office to attract and secure prospective student-athletes who are interested in attending The John Carroll School.
- Provide coaching and instruction that upholds the values and ideals of the Catholic Church and is in alignment with the mission of The John Carroll School.
- Work with the athletic director and finance office to keep a balanced budget.
- Supervise the distribution, maintenance, and use of school-issued uniforms and equipment.
- Be committed to self-improvement and professional development.
- Hold a pre-season parent meeting to communicate team philosophy, rules, expectations and schedule.
- Hold a post-season meeting or banquet.
- Build and oversee the Varsity and Junior Varsity Teams.
- Instill and promote the positive culture and foundational values of the Athletics Department.
