COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Following a 3-day training camp held in Charlotte, N.C., the women’s Junior High Performance Staff have evaluated and finalized the roster of U-16 and U-18 women’s athletes invited to the January 2025 Junior National Camp (JNC).
Taking place January 10 to 12 on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC), these athletes will compete for selection to the U.S. U-16 or U-18 Women’s National Teams. Once the age group Junior USWNT rosters have been selected, athletes will training at a designated camp in February for a spot on the travel squad of one of three U-16/U-18 teams going on tour in April.
"After three days of grit, determination, and unwavering commitment, both on the field and in the classroom, I am proud of what each athlete has shown," said Tamara Durante, U-16 USWNT Head Coach. "This first stage in the National Team selection process was highly competitive, and the decisions were not easy. The group selected reflects not just skill, but the passion, teamwork, and drive we witnessed in play and understanding the game. For those moving forward, this is just the beginning of an exciting journey. For those not selected this time, remember: today’s challenges are tomorrow’s motivation. Keep pushing, both mentally and physically, because potential has no limits."
The U-16 USWNT traveling squad, a roster selected from the full team, will return to Valkenswaard, The Netherlands in mid-April to compete in the Four Nations Tournament. This is the same event they competed in for the past two seasons, with an overall tournament record of 8-1-1. Teams entered in the 2025 event have yet to be confirmed, but countries represented in the past have been Belgium, France, Germany and Holland.
"Our first camp was a big success," added Mark Egner, U-18 USWNT Head Coach. "The coaches and players did a fantastic job of starting this journey, playing at a high tempo and laying a strong foundation for this year's team. I'm excited to work with this U-18 group and impressed with the level on show so far."
The U-18 USWNT traveling squad will return to Europe in mid-April, as well, to compete in the U-18 division of the Four Nations Tournament. Last year’s group went 2-2 in this event, against Belgium, Ireland and Spain. In 2024, the U-18 division was played in Leuven, Belgium and in 2025, this division will play in England.
In 2025, USA will again be sending a third traveling squad on tour to compete in a different division of the Four Nations Tournament. The location for this team’s bracket will be Valencia, Spain, also be taking place in mid-April, 2025. This third team competed against Belgium, France and Poland, in 2024 and had a record of 3-1. Athletes on this third team will be a mix of U-16 and/or U-18 athletes.
