Alyson Annan: A Legacy of International Excellence - Live at the 2024 Virtual National Coaches Forum

USA Field Hockey is excited to announce that 2024 FIH Coach of the Year Alyson Annan will be headlining the 2024 Virtual National Coaches Forum.

The Forum will open with Annan on Tuesday, December 3 at 10:00 a.m. ET. A legendary player and accomplished coach, Annan brings a unique perspective to this year's Forum, with key insights on raising the performance of a program, as she did as head coach of the China Women’s National Team.

Annan is synonymous with field hockey. As an Australian Hockeyroo, she earned an impressive 228 international caps, tallied 166 goals, led Australia to two Olympic Gold medals in 1996 and 2000, and won World Cup Gold in 1994 and 1998. Named the FIH Player of the Year in 1998 and 2000, she is one of the most decorated players in field hockey history and was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 2013.

Transitioning from player to coach, Annan began her coaching career as an assistant to than Netherlands Women’s National Team Head Coach Marc Lammers. She was part of the staff that led the team to silver at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. By 2015, she was named head coach of the Oranje women, leading them to numerous victories, including back-to-back EuroHockey Nations Championships in 2017 and 2019, 2017 World League, 2018 Champions Trophy, and 2019 FIH Hockey Pro League. Under her guidance, the Netherlands captured the 2018 World Cup title and Olympic gold at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, further solidifying her status as a leader in the sport.

Annan has taken a new challenge up as the head coach of the China Women’s National Team, leading her team to a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
