Reminiscing Ahead of the 2025 Sunshine Showcase
The Sunshine Showcase has evolved over the years with multiple name changes, location shifts, different dates when the event took place and even age divisions added, but one thing stays the same: the memories made at each. With the 2025 Sunshine Showcase, presented by Team IP, kicking off at the ESPN Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World Resort in less than two weeks, let’s reminisce on the memories made in the past decade.
Sunshine Showcase started off as the Disney Field Hockey Showcase in 2006 with just 56 teams. Now, with seven participating divisions and a record 270 teams this year, the 2025 iteration promises to be the largest yet.
The Disney Field Hockey Showcase ran from 2006 to 2015, and was interrupted in 2016 by the Presidents’ Day Showcase, which was held instead in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. This tournament was renamed the National Hockey Showcase in 2017. In 2018, the Disney Field Hockey Showcase returned, keeping its original location, but the name changed in 2022 to Sunshine Showcase at ESPN Wide World of Sports.
Today, the Sunshine Showcase, presented by Team IP, is one of USA Field Hockey’s most beloved yearly events. It provides premier competition and a fun environment for athletes, coaches, umpires, and families across the country.
