BIO
For Heistand, field hockey is a family tradition. With her mother as a coach, Heistand grew up on the field hockey pitch. Although a three-sport athlete through high school, Heistand followed the family way and chose to be part of the University of Connecticut field hockey team. After a successful career with the UConn Huskies as part of the defense that led the Big East Conference in 2011, she moved into the world of coaching as an assistant for the Lafayette Leopards. Her playing and coaching experience has made her a valuable asset to the US Women’s National Squad.
