The pairing was inevitable. Although West played multiple sports growing up, hockey was bound to be in her future. West’s mom played the sport and was always coaching at the local high schools. Hanging out at practices eventually led to a stick falling in her hands at an early age. On top of that, West’s high school coach had developmental programs for younger players as she was growing up which she participated in to nurture her love of the game. During the years, West has cultivated a passion for field hockey to excel at the collegiate level and now has the chance to make a huge impact on the senior national team.
