COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Field Hockey is excited to announce the participation of U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) Head Coach David Passmore at the 2024 Virtual National Coaches Forum, on December 4 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM ET.

Passmore, a leading force in advancing women’s field hockey in the U.S., will share an in-depth presentation titled "The Olympic Journey: Building Skills and Strategy for the Next Level." This talk promises to be an invaluable opportunity for coaches across the country to learn from Passmore’s experiences, gain technical insights, and explore future directions for the USWNT.

In his session, Passmore will provide a candid look into the team’s recent Olympic journey, highlighting the successes, challenges, and key lessons learned. This behind-the-scenes look will cover both the good and the setbacks encountered on the path to Paris 2024, offering coaches a unique perspective on how elite teams navigate and grow through high-stakes international competitions.

Building on this foundation, Passmore will share specific areas of technical focus critical to team performance, including goal scoring, acceleration skills, and the art of receiving under pressure. He will dive into the strategies the USWNT is using to enhance decision-making skills and develop penalty corner effectiveness—essential components for competing at the world’s highest level. His approach will underscore the importance of refining these skills and building confidence in pressure situations, valuable for coaches at all levels to implement in their own training sessions.

Passmore’s session will encourage coaches and players alike to consider what it takes to reach the next level in their development. By exploring the mental and technical growth needed to succeed, he aims to equip coaches with the tools and insights needed to support athletes on the journey to becoming international level players. As Passmore explains, understanding “where we need to go as coaches” is central to maximizing each player’s potential and advancing the sport in the U.S.

“Having David Passmore share his perspective on the Olympic journey and skill development is an incredible asset to this year’s Forum,” said USA Field Hockey’s High Performance Director, Craig Parnham. “His dedication to excellence and his focus on strategic, skill-based development will inspire and empower our coaching community.”

The 2024 Virtual National Coaches Forum will feature other prominent figures in field hockey, providing a rare chance for coaches to engage with elite professionals, explore best practices, and advance their own coaching skills. Coach Passmore’s presentation will be a highlight of the event, combining practical coaching insights with a compelling vision for the future of USA Field Hockey.
