Legendary Goalkeeper Hinch Joins 2024 Virtual National Coaches Forum to Share Insights & Vision for Goalkeeping Excellence

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Field Hockey is delighted to announce that celebrated former goalkeeper Maddie Hinch will be presenting at the 2024 Virtual National Coaches Forum, taking place December 3 from 11:10 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. ET.

With her invaluable experience from years as an international standout for Great Britain and her recent role as goalkeeper coach for the U.S. Women’s National Team, Hinch brings a unique perspective on advancing goalkeeping standards and skills in the United States.

In her session, Hinch will explore her journey with the USWNT in the lead-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, sharing training methods and video analysis that she has used to refine goalkeepers’ skills and decision-making abilities. Her hands-on approach emphasizes mastering the art of anticipation, enhancing reflexes, and building resilience under pressure - critical elements she used to lead her team to victory on the world stage.

"I’m excited to share the specific techniques and tools that are shaping the next generation of USA goalkeepers," said Hinch. "We’re focusing on areas that will not only support our efforts in Paris but will elevate the level of goalkeeping in the United States as we look forward to the LA 2028 Olympic Games."

Hinch’s presentation will also reflect on her transition from player to coach, highlighting the strategies and mental tools that helped her excel during her career and now serve as guiding principles in her coaching. Through a blend of her personal experiences and video resources, she will address the future of goalkeeping, discussing where USA  goalkeepers need to go to compete at an elite level in preparation for major competitions like the World Cup and the Olympic Games.
