Law Named USMNT Head Coach

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Following an extensive search process, USA Field Hockey is excited to announce Allan Law as the new head coach of the U.S. Men’s National Team.

“We are thrilled for Allan to join USA Field Hockey,” stated Simon Hoskins, USA Field Hockey’s Executive Director. “He is one of the top talents in the coaching world and has a skillset to lead the U.S. Men's National Team on the global stage, and a deep commitment to building male hockey in the United States.”

Law is stepping into this role after dedicating nearly ten years to coaching within the U.S. system. In January 2024, he was appointed to lead the U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team, after serving as the assistant coach since 2021. As head coach, he guided the Junior squad to silver at the 2024 Junior Pan American Championship (JPAC). This followed success as assistant coach, which included a gold medal at the 2023 JPAC and a tenth-place finish at the 2023 FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup.

Law’s involvement with the USA system began in 2014, starting at the Young Women’s National Championship. He had a stint as the assistant coach of the U.S. Men’s National Indoor Team, and was the assistant coach of the U-16 USWNT from 2019 to 2021.


A seasoned field hockey coach with more than 20 years of experience, Law excels in player development and program creation. His first head coaching role came in 2010 when he led the Scotland U-16 Boys team for three years. Managing the development of more than 50 athletes, he provided technical, tactical and a physical long-term development plan for the program.

From 2013 to 2021, Law was the assistant coach at Syracuse University. He helped lead the Orange to their only NCAA National Championship in 2015, runner-up appearance in 2014, seven NCAA Tournament appearances, and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) regular season title in 2015.

Law is a top up and coming coach in the United States – he is a certified USA Field Hockey Level 3, FIH Level 2 and United Kingdom Level 2 coach. He is a dedicated Coach Educator and coach within Nexus. Law had a ten-year playing career for both the indoor and outdoor squads of the Scotland Men’s National Team.


“I am delighted Allan will be leading our Men’s National Team program,” said Craig Parnham, USA Field Hockey’s High Performance Director. “His skills, attributes, and strengths will help develop all aspects of the program. I look forward to working with him and the squad as we embark on the next quad leading towards LA 2028.”

Law is committed to the core goal of best preparing the USMNT to perform in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, as well as building the elite end of the male athlete pathway in USA. He will relocate to Charlotte where he will lead the development of the men’s program, while also traveling Stateside and in Europe to lead training.
