COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Field Hockey is pleased to announce that four individuals will be representing USA at the 2025 Junior Pan American Challenge, set to take place March 8 to 16 in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Erika Barbera and Brian Tyson have been appointed as umpires, Dr. Stanley Iyadurai as the Medical Officer, and retired FIH umpire Suzi Sutton as an umpire manager.

After her international debut at the women’s 2024 Pan American Challenge last September, Barbera will be back representing the red, white and blue as an umpire this March. Since first picking up a whistle in 2022, she has continued to shine, making her start umpiring at the NCAA level last fall. She graduated from Kutztown University in May 2024, where she was a student assistant coach for the field hockey team. Barbera has umpired a multitude of USA Field Hockey events, including the championship game at the 2024 U-19 National Club Championship and 2024 U-18 Nexus Championship.

Tyson is back after umpiring previously at the 2024 Junior Pan American Championship (JPAC) in Surrey, Canada last July. It was the second consecutive JPAC for him, his first being his international debut in St. Michael, Barbados in April 2024. He has been an official and video umpire on several test matches in Charlotte, N.C., and officiated both the men and women at the 2024 Indoor Pan American Cup (IPAC). Tyson has heavy involvement officiating for the NCAA and was appointed to the NCAA Division III Championship umpire team the past two seasons.

Dr. Iyadurai currently serves as Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and Drug Discovery at Catalyst Pharmaceuticals. He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota, completed his residency in neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, and a fellowship in neuromuscular medicine at Washington University, St. Louis. He also holds a Ph.D. in molecular, cellular, developmental biology, and genetics from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Iyadurai attended the 2024 Indoor Pan American Cup in Alberta, Canada last March as a medical officer. He is also a member of the U.S. O-50 Men's Masters Team.

A renowned international umpire, Sutton will be representing USA in a different capacity this March – as an umpire manager. The 2018 USA Field Hockey National Umpire of the Year has officiated more than 140 international matches all over the world, including the 2017 FIH Hockey World League Semifinals in South Africa, 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, 2018 Champions Trophy in China, 2019 FIH Women’s Series Finals in Japan, 2021-2022 FIH Hockey Pro League, and numerous domestic test series. Sutton has been a fixture in NCAA officiating in the United States, including being selected for various NCAA Championship umpire teams. She was an umpire manager at the 2023 test series between USA and New Zealand in Charlotte, N.C.
