Govaert grew up in The Netherlands where field hockey is one of the nation’s most played sports. The club scene plays a big role in member’s social lives. At age 4, when her friends were signed up, her parents signed her up as well. Later her younger siblings also started to play and the weekends were spent around the field hockey fields. From there it grew into something bigger, to where she is now.
