COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Field Hockey and Walt Disney World Resort are excited to announce the Sunshine Junior Classic, a new youth event that will be held at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex from June 20 to 22, 2025. This 14 and under specific event combines competitive play with the magic of Disney.
The Sunshine Junior Classic will bring together youth field hockey players from across the country for an unparalleled experience. This exciting new event is designed to inspire young athletes, foster skill development, and create unforgettable memories.
“We are delighted to work with Walt Disney World to give an amazing opportunity for young athletes to have a magical field hockey experience this summer,” said Simon Hoskins, USA Field Hockey’s Executive Director.
“The Sunshine Junior Classic provides young athletes with the opportunity to grow, compete, and create memories in a setting that celebrates the joy of sports and the excitement of being part of a larger community,” added Madeline Rascon, USA Field Hockey’s Director of Events.
USA Field Hockey and Disney have worked together since 2006 with the annual Sunshine Showcase. The event started with just 56 teams in attendance and has grown in 2025 to include more than 270 teams. The new Sunshine Junior Classic will be one of many elite youth sports events at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, one of the premier sites for amateur sports in the nation.
The Sunshine Junior Classic will feature the following 7v7 age divisions U-8 Co-Ed, U-10 Co-Ed, U-12 Co-Ed, U-14 Co-Ed, U-14 Girls and Boys. Registration for the Sunshine Junior Classic opens on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. ET.
